I always try to find something fun for the seventh and eighth grade students at the very beginning of the school year. Last year's project was an all-time success story:
I had each student choose a musician or singer (living or deceased / current or past) and create a "fan"dango puppet! No one in the same class could choose the same artist, so there was a variety. (There were duplicates because two classes did the same project.) At our back-to-school open house, the music "fan"dango puppets were the hit of the night!
