One of my present schools is in a barrio of Los Angeles where 80% of the students are Hispanic, receive free lunches, breakfasts, etc., and have after school supervision until 6 p.m. With many parents working as day laborers and housecleaners, they often can't take time off nor come in the evening to attend a concert. I ask one to two parents who have video cameras to take a video of rehearsals and the performance, then I join them together. We have a rental system with one student in charge of signing the video out and then signing it back in. The students may borrow the video for two days maximum. I reward the rental persons so they take the job seriously.
