I started a "Ribbon Project" with my beginning orchestra. Students can earn a different color of curling ribbon for each month (i.e., September = Yellow, October = Orange, November = Brown, etc.). You could also design an eight week project where students could earn ribbons to tie onto their recorders. It's very easy; you just cut the ribbon from the big spool (about 3" long). The hardest part is going around and curling them!
