There are two things I want to share about my last day with students.

This morning was the Track/Field Day for the kindergarten through sixth grade students. Using an idea I got from the MusicK8.com Mailing List, I sold 500 freezer pops for $0.25 each, making $125 in less than an hour! (This money will supplement that which I get in my budget.) It will just pay for my Music K-8 magazine subscription with a little money left over!

Also, the last day also has our yearly "Summertime Rocks" concert. (This was the fourth year.) The concert is held the last hour of the last school day. Throughout the year, I teach all students (kindergarten through fourth grade) the movements to approximately 13-15 Music K-8 songs. The finale of the "Summertime Rocks" concert is *always* "Summertime Rocks" (from Music K-8, Vol. 8, No. 5. Each school year we keep ten songs, and add three to five new ones for variety. Then, on the last day of school we meet in the gym and sing/dance the year out! It is a great time for the students, although a few parents do show up. A cool thing about this is that the classroom teachers all sing and dance with the students. In fact, I believe they have as much fun as the kids do!
