A Little Kindness

by Teresa Jennings

We love this song. We think it's beautiful. And it tells just how we feel. We can't think of a more appropriate way to end the year.

We especially enjoyed recording this song, too. Even though it is quite short, it was a very fulfilling experience. Paul played the piano at the same time we recorded the first group of strings - our solo quartet. This is unusual as we usually record our songs in pieces. But this time, we decided we wanted the emotion and connection between the piano and strings that can only come from performing together. There was no click track, no conductor. They just listened to each other and played. It was magical. We hope that you take the time to listen to the recording, including the instrumental version.

Of course, a song like this will also shine with piano and vocals only. Be sure to keep it rubato, and do include the violin cues which answer the melody in the second ending.

Given its sweet content, this song would also work very well with a soloist.
