Let's Take A Sleigh Ride

If you weren't already in a holiday mood, after you listen to this lively and quite merry tune, you will be! Though it does not specifically say anything about the holidays, the spirit of it is implied with the topic as well as the use of jingle bells – both the instrument and the traditional song! This makes it the perfect piece for your seasonal programming.

The main melody is bouncy, fun, and easy to remember. At the bridge (measure 21), the style becomes more smooth with an introspective tone. This is also the point at which the optional second vocal part enters. While it isn't necessary, it adds a lovely depth that your older and/or more capable singers will enjoy. At the D.S. (measure 5), instead of singing, the orchestra takes over the melody and performers "respond" in various ways. Listen to the full version of the recording to see how easily this works and it will make sense. Be sure singers are ready to jump right back in with the melody at measure 21 on the D.S.
