We're Making Music!

A Celebration of Performance

Music and performance are the themes for this incredible revue. We're Making Music! is packed with great songs in many different styles. And there are plenty of opportunities to let your performers shine. (Please note: There is no narration for this revue. It is solely focused on the music.) It includes:

  • We're Making Music! - The title song for this revue is a lively, upbeat Latin/jazz piece that is loaded with excitement from the very beginning. Within the song, students are invited to demonstrate the music they are making.
  • Tambourine Kid - This simple song is specifically written for your youngest students. The vocal part is super easy and can be learned quickly. To further enhance your performance options, we have added a recorder part which uses the notes B, A, and G.
  • A Beat In My Feet - This tune helps young musicians feel the beat by putting it in their feet! Set in a march style with a not-too-fast tempo, the tune allows students to listen and coordinate their steps to the music. There's even a fun kazoo part included.
  • Ode To Composers - The idea for this tune was simple and a lot of fun: Take the joyous and well-known "Ode To Joy" and use the names of lots of famous composers as the lyrics. To really do it up right, it's set to a full orchestra. Your students will feel like professional singers!
  • I Hear Music Everywhere - Music is in the ear of the beholder, or so this song suggests. It's a delightful and lighthearted swing tune that is catchy and sung entirely in unison. Plus, the melody is never any more rhythmically difficult than quarter notes. That way, your students can focus on what's really fun about the tune - the sound effects!
  • Movin' To The Beat - The hip hop groove of this funky tune will appeal to your students right away. There are plenty of movement possibilities and suggestions for body percussion - heels on floor, patsching (thigh slapping), and clapping.
  • Play That Music (All Day Long) - This lively song starts with a tight, jazzy big band intro and goes into an oh-so-familiar boogie woogie bass line played on piano. It's practically guaranteed to get shoulders bouncing in the audience.
  • Music, Music - Here's a chance for you to showcase your Orff instruments. We've even suggested including Boomwhackers® in this piece. Of course, if you don't have Orff instruments or Boomwhackers®, you can still use the piece very nicely. This song is also a 3-part round.
  • I Wish You Music - If you really want to say something nice to someone, wish them music. This gentle and sincere song is a partner song. There are two parts which are introduced separately at first, and then joined together in harmony. Part 1 is deliberately simpler than part 2 so that you can blend varying groups.
  • Music Is Always There - The most exciting thing about this great concert closer is the energetic fiddle part right off the top! It's amazing and really sets the mood for the piece. Your singers will definitely have a great time with this one. And to really add some pizzazz to your performance, we have included a lively and fun-to-do clapping part.
