Clappin' Time (Clementine)

adapted by Katie Gentry/arr. Paul Jennings

This adaptation of the tune "Clementine" was done by Katy Gentry, who was one of the singers from our recording sessions. Paul's arrangement and orchestration is full of his signature humor. The result is classic.

The idea is to clap the rhythms of the tune at the chorus the first time through, stomp the second time through and sing the third time using the syllable, "ner." The latter is intended to imitate a country guitar, complete with twang. To really get the full effect, let your students play "air guitar", too. (from Music K-8, Vol. 5, No. 5)
