Evergreens
by Teresa JenningsSounding as if it were written in a previous century, this jolly olde tune has a charming 6/8 lilt that will make your audience feel downright merrye. Besides being a charming focus on a seasonal favorite (evergreens), it also presents several options for performance. The melody can be broken into optional solos with group responses during the verse, with everyone joining in at the choruses. There is a simple optional percussion line written for hand drums and tambourine. And there is an optional ukulele part that uses only the chords C, F, and G with notes on the music for simplying further. Of course, you could skip all of these and just do the song as a unison piece, no extras. The recording allows for the same vintage vibe either way as it includes such neat things as a lute and bodhrán. A full unison version as well as parts for percussion and ukulele are included with the kit. (from Music K-8, Vol. 34, No. 2)
