Here For Hanukkah
by Karl Hitzemann"Here For Hanukkah" is a simple, singable tune for this joyous celebration that can be performed by students in just about any class. The tune is in 3/4 time and has a very lyrical, gentle feel to it. We have provided a playable piano part in case you wish to perform it live. However, if you use the recording, you will be treated to a neat orchestration that includes rhythm section, clarinet, flute, tambourine, and strings, including a beautiful violin solo. To enhance your performance, you could add to that accompaniment by having members of your choir play a triangle, tambourine, and/or finger cymbals.
The lyrics of the song mention a few Hanukkah traditions such as lighting candles one by one, spinning dreidels, dancing a hora, and wishing one and all "shalom." (from Music K-8, Vol. 33, No. 2)
