Kwanzaaby Teresa Jennings
Teresa Jennings created this special song because teachers all over the country asked her for a musical theme for their school's celebration of Kwanzaa. The result is a simple, engaging tune reminiscent of an African folk song. It's easy to learn, and it features an optional vocal ostinato that can be sung in one, two or three parts. The kit includes the tune with full accompaniment as well as a special article on the holiday (including a careful description of the concept on which each day's observance is based) with in-depth descriptions of the celebration and a detailed pronunciation guide for new words. The recording is authentic, featuring infectious African rhythms played on traditional percussion instruments. And, as always, the children singing on the recording provide a positive example for your singers. This is a song you will want to share with all of your children. (from Music K-8, Vol. 5, No. 2)
