No Okra In My Gumbo

by Paul Jennings

This work is a celebration of the 300th anniversary of New Orleans, and is an homage to the heritage of this great city. It does this in two ways: as a tribute to the best-known music of New Orleans, and as a tribute to the unique and flavorful food styles, which include a bit of cajun and a bit of a creole influence in the mix. Our arrangement features a traditional Dixieland group playing with a larger band and our recorders - both soprano and alto, which is optional. Notes used: D,E,G,A,B,C,D' (from Music K-8, Vol. 28, No. 5)
