Classical Music Word Search Puzzles

by Karl Hitzemann

This handy reproducible resource contains 14 word search puzzles that center around a specific piece of classical music. Students will read about how a work (a symphony, a concerto, a ballet, an opera, etc.) from composers like Beethoven, Copland, Gershwin, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Mozart, Puccini, and more, became famous - and what some of the inspirations, struggles, and triumphs were that went into creating and performing it. After students read the facts about the piece, they will then get to do a fun word search puzzle that contains words from the fact page they just read. There is also a composer/composition matching quiz that you can give students after all of the classical works have been studied.

The musical pieces discussed include Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Copland's Appalachian Spring, Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue, Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, Mozart's The Magic Flute, Ravel's Boléro, Barber's Adagio for Strings, Handel's Messiah, Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, Debussy's Clair de Lune, Wagner's Tristan and Isolde, Dvořák's New World Symphony, Bernstein's Candide, and Puccini's Madame Butterfly.

This book comes with full rights to reproduce pages for your students and includes an answer key for each puzzle and the quiz. Perfect as a classroom activity or when you need resources for a sub, your students will love learning about classical music while having a little fun, too.
