Just finished doing an adapted The Power Of Music to the parents, it went really well. The choir sang beautifully. It was their first proper public performance, and they put their hearts into it. They sang:

"Sounds All Around Us" (from The Power Of Music)

Two groups entering from different doors and singing as they entered gave a stereo effect.

"Whacky Sounds" (from Music K-8, Vol. 10, No. 5; can also be found in Whacky Do Re Mi and Other Boomwhacker® Favorites)

Nearly got it right as well. Well, we ended all together - that was a first!!

"Big Band!" (from The Power Of Music)

This one has grown on me. The kids sounded amazing doing this. I wonder what it is about this song that brings out the best in them? Wish I could bottle it.

"Dream Catcher" (from Music K-8, Vol. 6, No. 1)

Well, actually, after the reader talked about music being banned in various countries, we changed the words a bit and called it "Sound Catcher." Kids liked it from the moment we started it.

"A Song Of Peace" (from Music K-8, Vol. 12, No. 2; also available as a Singles Reproducible Kit)

Beautiful. I wonder if anyone noticed that we used American Sign Language instead of our British Sign Language?

"Slick Back Jack" (from Music K-8, Vol. 3, No. 3; can also be found in UP!)

Cool piece - kids love it.

"Listen To The Beat Of My Heart" (from The Power Of Music)

My son made up actions for this, but in hindsight, they were too complex. The kids managed them, but the effect was untidier than I would have liked.

"Music Touches Children Most Of All" (from Music K-8, Vol. 3, No. 3; can also be found in the musical revue United We Sing)

Beautiful and moving.

"Sing, Sing A Song"

They forgot the words at one stage, but just stood quietly and joined in together for the chorus. Sounded like that was supposed to happen. :-)

It was a lovely evening with lots of really good comments from parents and Headmaster.

Thanks, Plank Road!!!!
