One I thing I do to promote music in my schools is show the parents through video what we do in the classroom. During any given week of school, I ask a para-educator to take video of portions of my classes. She varies her location in the room and captures students' faces, as well as me doing some teaching!

I have shown this type of video at our beginning of school open house and at parent-teacher conferences. The parents (and students!) really enjoy seeing what goes on in the classroom. Many parents have been so grateful for this visual open door policy. One of my favorite comments is, "Music has really changed since I was a kid!"
