Nebraska is celebrating 150 years as a state on 03/01/2017. I'm sharing an arrangement I made of "Our States Are Great." I made it into "Our State Is Great" and wrote a rap with fun state facts in place of the list of 50 states. Maybe someone else would write one for their state! You will notice our school's mascot (Huskies) and the Nebraska Cornhuskers (Huskers) mentioned--GO BIG RED! :) Thanks for the great song, Teresa Jennings!

Here is my version, "Our State Is Great"

Our state, is great.

Ev'ry one in its time had to come to the plate to become

a great, great state.

We don't exaggerate!

One-five-oh to date.

Just a matter of time, just a matter of fate to become

a great, great state.

And now we celebrate our great, great state.

From 1867 to 2017,

150 years are in-be-tween.

Lincoln is the capital of our state.

It's the hard working people that make it great.

We've got cottonwoods, meadowlarks, white tailed deer.

Did you know that Kool-Aid was invented right here?

93 counties full of cities and towns.

From the east to the west, the best state around!

Our state, is great

Arbor Day was founded here, the Henry Doorly Zoo,

Chimney Rock, corn and cattle, lakes and rivers, too.

The College World Series makes its home,

Nebraska is the GOOD LIFE no matter where you roam.

From Omaha to Valentine, Aurora, North Platte,

living in Nebraska is where it's at.

For the Huskies and the Huskers---ev'ry body cheers,

Happy Birthday to Nebraska---150 years!
