How to Learn New Music - for Grades K-5

For Grades K-5
1. Active Listening: Students keep the beat with "spider fingers" on their lap, so as not to make noise. Another option is to listen for a section of music where students can quickly raise and lower their hand.
2. Rote exercises for the chorus or another part, and sing with accompaniment.
3. For the next lesson, review the part we already know and sing it.
4. If they can read, read song sheets/music for entire song (briefly discuss form, repeats, etc.).
