There's Weather Out There

by John Riggio

Weather affects us all. It affects what clothes to put on today, and what temperature to set the thermostat at in your home. It affects whether or not we open our windows, or light a fire in the fireplace. This energetic song explores different types of weather and helps define weather for your students.

This piece is easy to sing, though it does have some modulating elements and the accidentals that go with that territory. To assist your students we have piano and/or electric piano playing the melody throughout.

In performance, different types of clothing and props cold be used to signify the different types of weather. One student could be wearing a winter jacket and carry a snowboard. Another could be wearing shorts, a T-shirt, and flip-flops while holding a beach ball. Yet another could be wearing rain gear and sporting an umbrella. There are many possibilities! If you'd rather perform this song without sound effects, an alternate version is available online for subscribers.
