Groundhog Lurking

Who says only young kids can celebrate Groundhog Day (February 2)? In this slightly offbeat tune, your older singers are given a chance to join in the fun, too. Written for three parts, parts 2 and 3 are optional. That way you can still do it with those younger singers if you want to. We have included a unison version on the recording for this issue (track 34) so you can hear how it would work. To further assist in your teaching, we have isolated both part 2 and part 3 and put it on our web site for you. We also did an a cappella version, both for listening and learning, and just for the fun of it. (See details in box following.) We suspect your older singers will enjoy singing it with and without the background tracks.
The delightfully quirky saxophone quartet accompaniment is also neat to listen to by itself. So if you have a chance, cue up the instrumental tracks and share it with your students. (We're toying with the idea of making the sax score and parts available in the future, too. Let us know if that is of interest to you.)
