On Valentine's Day

by Mike Wilson

The goal was to provide an easy-to-learn, upbeat, catchy song without a lot of mush for Valentine's Day. This should appeal to your younger groups with a unison melody line that is predominantly scale oriented. There are a few interval jumps but nothing too tricky.

We begin with two choruses back to back. A four phrase bridge breaks things up, then we end with two more choruses. You'll see directions to clap on the "and four" of measures five, seven, and nine. There is also the option to find pretty much anything at your disposal to hit on those beats as well – sticks, tambourine, cowbell, hand drums, trash cans, buckets, etc., but not your neighbor!

This is a song that requires lots of energy. So start at forte, and keep it there to sound fun!
