Maracas

by M.C. Handel

M.C. Handel has gone Latin in this feature for recorders and maracas. A familiar and comfortable groove allows young players to easily get into the spirit. They even get to shout "Maracas!" a few times for fun.

You will note that there are two recorder parts: A and B. Part A is a bit more challenging as it includes low C throughout the tune. Part B is a little simpler and does not use the low C.

The maracas simply play a constant eighth note rhythm. To feature them, we suggest you put them out front with the recorders and add a little "maracas choreography" for fun. You can keep the movements as simple or complex as your performers can handle. To give you an idea of something that might work, we have created a maracas part with suggested movements on the music. This part can be found as a free downloadable PDF online. See below for information.
