Christmas Night

by Mike Wilson

The message is simple. Amidst all the commercialization of the Christmas season, there is a gift that every one of us can give: the gift of ourselves to one another. No false pretenses, no ego, just who we are. And it's free. "Christmas Night" expresses that message in an easy to learn, unison presentation for your choir. In the key of D, the range stretches one note beyond C to C with a B on the bottom and a D on the top end. Our arrangement uses an acoustic rhythm section and is orchestrated with strings. In case you can't tell, we took a "Nora Jones" approach with the recording.

"Christmas Night" is a fairly short song. Sing through the verse once, the strings take the melody at the turn around. Join in the melody with "loos." then sing the last half of the verse again. There is a ritard at the end but it slows quickly to an even tempo (60 bpm) for the last three words. If you listen to our demo recording a couple of times, you'll pick right up on it.
